This wasn't a paid photo shoot, but was something I wanted to capture and share.
Our local Chick-Fil-A wanted to recognize the events of 9/11 and invite some of our local heroes. One of our good friends is a fireman, and was asked to Emcee the event.
They had firemen and policemen (and women) present, but they wanted to ask Mike (my husband) to come along as well. My heart gushed -- Mike's sort of panicked! He's not a big fan of being in the public eye. And I understand that. But I also pointed out that he is MY hero, and other people appreciate him for the sacrifices he makes as well. So, he agreed to do it.
It was a small, sweet ceremony. People from the community came to support our local heroes - and it was really neat to see. There were kiddos carrying flags, and they were just about the cutest things I'd ever seen. They were in awe of the men & women in uniform.
If you have not gone to Chick-Fil-A lately, please go. They have such wonderful values and service. Oh, and did I mention how incredibly YUMMY their food is? ;) They took very good care of these men & women today.
Here are a few shots I took -- mainly so I could remember what a great day it was... and so I could capture them for our friend, the fireman, as well.

Saluting the flag as it's lowered. |

This was a moving moment of the ceremony. Everyone stood as they lowered the flag to half-mast. |

This guy is pretty near & dear to my heart. :) |
